I'm down in San Antonio for the break, we skipped a few classes and took the late penalty on some assignments to come early, and it has paid off. I have a bunch of long papers I need to write in the coming week along with more grading and tutoring, but I can't force myself to do any work while on break here with Karen's family. Things like school seem to matter so much less here (which makes me wonder about life after graduation) and it actually feels like Karen and I are a real family down here away from the schoolwork. Our lives almost seem to have split personalities at LeTourneau; serving the gradebooks while trying to live like a family. I love coming down here merely for the chance to see a clearer picture of married life and to spend some quality time with Kare. Anyway, I'm going to keep avoiding homework so I can enjoy this time here all the more. Happy Thanksgiving!
The new James Bond film Casino Royale was in a word "amazing." Daniel Craig played the best Bond in a very, very long time. He had a personality and soul that showed through and made for some very entertaining dialouges and sequences. The screenplay was also brilliant. Finally we have moved from Hollywood hype and explosions to a rational and well planned masterpiece of intrigue. I then highly recommend Casino Royale for its great script, flushed out characters, and its tribute to the ideas 007 was founded on; it was so refreshing. I cannot say how happy I was with the movie, and am definatley on board with the new and insanely hardcore 007 Daniel Craig.
We went to see "Stranger Than Fiction" the other day. I knew the movie could not be that bad to begin with since the producer explicitly wanted the lead man from Spoon to make up most of the music for the movie. However, ontop of the Spooness, the movie was really great.
I highly recommend the movie and cannot state too much detail here without ruining the film. However, Will Farrel is at his best, and does about a 180 in his acting style in this movie. The supporing actresses and actors were also good; all of them from Dustin Hoffman to Queen Latifah. Emma Thompson did especially well, and in fact this is the only movie that I prefer her acting in. But on the whole, pick up Stranger Than Fiction, its definately a different look and very much worth your time.
